We all get busy sometimes and have just shoved our food down quickly, to fuel our bodies, without really thinking about it or even tasting our food. Mindful eating is a perfect antidote if you tend to not pay attention to what you actually eat.
Earlier this year was invited along to The Rivers Hospital to give a talk, to a support group, about mindfulness and how it can help support the mental and emotional journey of weight loss following bariatric surgery.
It was a very interesting to hear from various people at the beginning of their journey, from pre-surgery, right through to two years plus post surgery.
It became apparent that surgery is just the first step of along a whole new path of healthy mindful eating. A supportive network post surgery is both vital and welcome. Also, at the group meeting, was a guy from a tv production company currently making a programme about weight loss surgery. Hopefully I will get to see the programme when it is completed. I am sure it will make interesting viewing.
Whether your want to lose weight or not, mindful eating can give you a different perspective about the way you eat. You get to really taste your food and savour it. You can mindfully nourish your body with the foods it really likes and wants. Want to learn more?
